Schematic library symbol editing in table form?

Former Member
Former Member over 9 years ago

Is there a way to edit schematic symbol pins as a table? Is there a way to export a schematic library symbol as a text file, then import it back into a Circuit Studio schematic library? This would allow editing of components using a text editor or excel.

Using the schematic library editor to manually create or change each pin is slow. Editing component pin properties as a table lets you change pin order, pin lengths, types, names etc quickly. It lets you import PLD/FPGA pinout information from Xilinx or Altera compiler reports. I have used component text export/import in Orcad in the past and it is much faster than graphical editing pin-by-pin.

    Hi

As yet I have not seen any mention that this facility is available in circuit Studio ( or even Altium designer)

But I will ask Altium to comment upon this area no your behalf and come back to you as soon as receive a reply from them.

    Thank you

    Hi

ref your question "Is there a way to edit schematic symbol pins as a table?"

There is currently no way to copy and edit pin data as a text file or within an external editor like excel spreadsheet. Altium Designer has this capability to copy the pin data (or any object data) modify it and then paste it back.

    thanks

    Carl
