bought CS but link is to eval edition

Hi, I have just bought CS, have uninstalled the evaluation version, have the email with a link to the installer, but it does not point to "CircuitStudioSetup.exe", but to "CircuitStudio-eval-1.3.exe", I guess this is the wrong link? i.e. to the evaluation edition installer? where can I get CircuitStudioSetup.exe, as per the installation instructions?

    Hi George and Clem,

The installer on the CircuitStudio website has the word eval in the filename, however this is also used as the main installer, i.e. we don't have a separate download. There is no need to uninstall the evaluation software once you've purchased CircuitStudio, because you can just license the product that you used with the evaluation license.

View tab > Start, My Account drop down, Licenses. If not already, sign in with your own email address, then right click the license and choose Activate or Reactivate. This downloads an ALF file to your system. You may export this file from the same screen, if you need to back up the license file, or transfer it to an offline/secure computer. The EULA allows you to install on your own machine and your own "home" machine such as a laptop, provided you only use one at a time.

The best place to download CircuitStudio is:

    http://www.circuitstudio.com/download

and click the Download CircuitStudio link. Another page will load and the executable will download automatically. This is currently CircuitStudio-eval-1.3.exe but this will be updated very soon to version 1.4, which is imminent.

If you already have CircuitStudio installed, you can use the built-in updater to update to 1.4 once it is released. If you have set the option to "Sign me in when I start CircuitStudio" (System Preferences > System > Account Management) and the Automatic Updates (General Settings) is set to the default Check Frequency of Every 3 Days, then over the next few days/weeks you'll see a popup advising that an update is available.

Clicking Yes will redirect you to the My Account > Extensions and Updates. You can also go there manually if you don't want to wait (View tab > Start, My Account drop down).

This only works when you're signed in.

    • In the Updates tab, the Platform Updates will show the new version.
    • Hover the mouse over it and a small down icon will appear.
    • Click the icon to download the update. You should save your work because this will require CiruitStudio to restart.

P.S. The direct links aren't the best to use because they are only used internally and may not have consistent naming and are actually subject to change without notice. These are the names currently:

http://altium-install.s3.amazonaws.com/CircuitStudio/CircuitStudioSetup.exe is version 1.2 (works for both eval and licensed)

http://altium-install.s3.amazonaws.com/CircuitStudio/CircuitStudioSetup1.3.exe is version 1.3 (works for both eval and licensed)

    Best regards,

    James Harriman

    Altium
