Hope the following is helpful as it may relate to what you have experienced. The component you were editing, was it originally a copy of a Vault component? This would be the case even if you have deleted everything from the copy and drawn up a new component or if it was a copy of a copy of a component that was originally associated with the Vault.
From the problem description it sounds as if you have created a few different components but the original was copied from the Vault at some time. Although the system appears to let you edit these copies the Altium documentation states that Vault components are for consumption only and these components will revert to their original design even if you have tried to edit them.
Are you aware of the Altium design center where there are literally hundreds of libraries that can be downloaded and used locally? Not as convenient as the Vault but may be appropriate for your use case. It is a really great resource.

Hey Peter,
Thanks for the reply. This component was made from scratch (and the behavior seems to occur on any of the components I "update").
Vault causes my computer to crash so haven't been using that much lately. I'm aware of the Altium libraries and use them regularly.
Does the update fault occur on every design or just with one library? If you can isolate a small sample design that exhibits this behaviour then please feel free to email me directly and I can pass on to Altium for investigation.
Hi Peter,
Any part that is updated in the project (across multiple part libraries) will update all parts in the schematic. I'll try and get something together and send it over.
