Polygon pour width not triggering design rule check

Hi,

I was designing a board with rules imported from Altium Designer.  The PCB fab specified track widths, spacings and clearances to be 7mil.  I have all those parameters set in the design rules at 8mil.  However, I noticed that when pouring a ground polygon plane, it was generated small necks and widths less than the specified rule but I was not getting any DRC errors.

Turns out that I had the "Remove Necks When Copper Width Less Than" parameter at 5mil.

I just thought this was kind of strange...I'm pretty sure Altium Designer would have thrown a DRC error.

Is this working as intended, or a bug?

You are using the correct rule "Remove Necks..." that will control copper width.

DRC width rules are applied to polygons made of tracks (hatched) but not filled ones. What rule do think AD has to check pours? If there is something important missing then we can suggest to Altium as a possible improvement for CS.

    Hi Peter,

Actually, I checked in Altium Designer and it does seem to behave the same way.  I guess I simply never noticed it before and my supplier hadn't complained/commented about the ground pour necks until now.
