Issues with part rotation when origin is set to the board.

Hello All:

According few tutorials, just after creating the PCB and before importing all components from schematics, some setup is required. One of these changes involve setting the Origin to the origin of the board.

However, I noticed doing this, it affects the effect of SPACE key to rotate the part when trying to position it in the board. I mean, after setting this origin, when I press SPACE key to rotate the part, it doesn't rotate in place but it goes far away in each direction...In some cases, it's not longer visible and actually accessible. Changing the origin back to the origin of the workspace, this doesn't happen and the part rotates in place whenever the SPACE bar is hit.

Does someone know why this happens? Am I doing something wrong in the set origin procedure?

Thanks

Gus

    Found out recently: CTRL +SHIFT+SPACE or CTRL +SPACE rotates the parts on the PCB editor around the mouse. Failure to use the CONTROL key will result in a horrible rotation that occurs around the origin…

    Hi Gus, this is a known issue that should be fixed in the next hotfix release of CircuitStudio. For now the best workaround is to use SHIFT+SPACE to rotate the component in the opposite direction, this seems to be an effective and respects the component's origin.

    I think pressing space to rotate components without having specified the origin of rotation results in using the board origin as the default rotation point.  You can use your mouse to left-click on a component (and hold the click) and then press space bar and the parts should rotate around the component point.  It seems you must left-click on a component and not just any arbitrary point even if it is inside a group of parts. You also cannot rotate around a non-part (such as a line vertices on a mechanical layer.

    As you may see in other threads, pressing SPACE only seems to have some issues about origin of rotation.  UsingLEFT-CLICK/HOLD and then SHIFT+SPACE or CTRL+SPACE seems to work better (for me at least).

    Found out recently: CTRL+SHIFT+SPACE or CTRL+SPACE rotates the parts on the PCB editor around the mouse.  Failure to use the CONTROL key will result in a horrible rotation that occurs around the origin or some junk like that.  Plus it screws up the hotspot snap if you fail to do it right.  Always remember to use the CONTROL key when rotating with the space bar.

    Thank you!

    Is there a link where to check known issues?

    Also, do you know when should we expect a new version?

    Regards;

    Gus
