Complicated pad with windowed paste layer

lupal

Hi all,

I am trying to create a pad for a mosfet transisor which requires a complex drain pad. I used a simple round pad + solid region with complicated shape.

However, the created paste shape just copies the solid region shape and I am not able to edit the paste mask expansion.

Is there a way to do it?

Thank you a lot.

I think, that using the rules

    1. each pad has a single solder paste segment (or none)
    2. several pads can have the same number

It is possible to create any solder paste layout you need. It might need an additional trick to get the right solder mask, thoughts. and for taking apple related  solutions you can visit the https://www.applemacsupportnumbers.com/apple-customer-support/ and you will get the instant solution.

    Here's a simple solution:

    1-Create your Pad.

    2-Double-Click your Pad.

3-Under the 'Paste Mask Expansion' box, select 'Specify expansion value'.

4-Give the value a Negative value equal to the size of the pad.  This eliminates the current paste layer.  ie.  Size and shape, X-Size = 5mm, Y-Size = 5mm.  Paste Mask Expansion = -5mm.

5-Add Fills to the Paste Layers that you are using (either Top Paste or Bottom Paste) in the shape that you need.

    6-Done.

    Happy Knabenschiessen! (September 10th)

    Hi James,

    thank you for your answer.

I am familiar with what you describe. The problems is that my pad has a complicated shape and must be created by solid region. And there I am unable to play with the 'Paste Mask Expansion'

    Hi Erhan,

    thank you for your answe.

    Do you mean this procedure?

    1. make a complex pad consisting of several simple pad with the same name
    2. disable their own paste mask by 'Paste Mask Expansion'
    3. create the paste layer separately

    Hi

I've have always approached footprints with complicated paste requirements exactly as suggested.  However, I found that CircuitStudio (I run version 1.5.2 Build 30) just ignore those paste pads.  When I add the footprint to the PCB the pads are there, but when I save the document, close and reopen CircuitStudio those paste pads are just gone, and the Gerbers generates the same.  So It's a bug in CircuitStudio.  Even if I try to update the footprint, the pads are there, but after save, close and reopen, they're gone.  Has anyone else encountered this?
