Issues with Preferences saving

ziomau10

I don't know is these are problems of my specific installation, or it is more general.

Anyway I submit to the community to seek for a solution or to rise a bug.

  1. Seems that the preferences are not saved. If I change a preference, when I reopen CS the preferences are back to defaults. I (partially) fix this problem by saving to a file, and reloading the file each time I start CS. Not a bit deal, but annoying
  2. Not all preferences are correctly saved. As an example the snap grid in schematics, defaults to 10. If I save the preferences to a file and then reload the same file, with a schematics open the grid is set to 1. Note that if a PCB file is open while reloading the file the problem does not show up
  3. I am under the impression that non all preferences are correctly saved. I have no clear example other than the two above, but still I believe that something is not correct in the preferences management

Best Regards.

Mau.

Most preferences are stored in the schematic or pcb you are working on.

If you want to set defaults for new schematics and pcbs then create appropriate CSPcbDoc and SchDot templates in:

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Altium\CS\Templates

I am already using templates, but I cannot change the preferences afterwards ...

Are you saying that the only way to change the settings for a schematics is to update the template and reapply it?

Just setting the preferences, saving and closing is not enough for me.

As an example, in schematic editor I prefer to have moving default and dragging by pressing Ctrl.

Every time I open CS the default return to dragging.

Is this normal? Or is it a problem with my installations?

    Thank you.

    Regards.

    Mau.

I think you have found a bug.

The 'Always Drag' option in preferences seems to get checked when CircuitStudio restarts.

Thanks for the bug report - I can reproduce so it does seem to be an actual bug rather than installation dependant. I'll raise a ticket directly with Altium.

    Great to be helpful.

While on the subject, have a general look at preferences, because I am under the impression that something else is also weird.

Not a clear example like above, but worth have a look.

If I find other issues I will report here.

    Thank you.

By the way, is there a any plan for an update in the future?

    Regards.

    Mau.
