Defining a custom paste mask

Hello,

I'd like to define a latticed paste mask to 5mm*6mm big pad.

Default paste mask has been defined based on the parameter of Paste Mask Expansion.

In fast, I changed this parameter to -3mm, and the pad shape has disappeared completely.

Next, I defined custom shape to another layer, and move to Top Paste layer.

It seems to be working fine. Is this official way?

Yes. You got it!

If you put vias in the pad make sure to either fill and plate them or make the vias something like 10mil or less in diameter or somehow prevent the via from stealing solder off the pad.
