Cannot see object when embeding generic 3d model

I'm using CS 1.4. I'm trying to add a 3d step model to a component PCB library. This is my first time using this feature.

I can successfully add cylinders and extrudes. I can add them, manipulate them, and view them when I switch to 3D mode.

But I cannot embed a generic 3D step model. I try to embed a model I found from the manufacturer. When I place it I see the cross-hair marker in 2D mode and I can select it and it is listed if "Manage 3D Bodies", but cannot see it's MECH1 layer outline. And I cannot see it in 3D mode, I just see a cross-hair again. And I can kind of manipulate it if I'm careful, like to use "3D Body Placement".

But still I see nothing. I even created my own step file with just a simple extruded rectangle that's right at the origin, and same thing, cannot see it at all in PCB library editor or PCB layout editor.

here's a link to the manufacturer part I was trying to use, if you want to try for yourself.   https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-5747845-3.html

Any suggestions? I can provide more details if needed. I would really like to get this working.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I added snapshots of what I'm seeing

First thing is to check your display preferences:

File > System Preferences > PCB Editor > Display >

    Show Simple 3D Bodies [Checked]

    Show Generic 3D Models [Checked]

I just looked. They are both already checked. Plus I'm having this problem with both PCB editor and PCB library, not sure if those settings affect both.

EDIT: I added images to the post of what I'm seeing. Just a crosshair where the body is supposed to be. And the settings I'm using but those seem pretty straight forward.

I can't open the pictures you posted.

That model shows up fine in CS, although its white so with a light coloured background its harder to see.

I downloaded the model and opened it in Solidworks and it seems fine. I did export back out as a 214 step file. I use these as they allow multiple colours on surfaces.

I imported the models into CS Ver 1.52 without problems but the model in very white, pale looking. Ignore the Xtal, it was the first device I found to import the model.

I too opened the model in CAD and can see the model is correct and centered on the origin. But if you could see my posted pics, it is just not there. Regardless if the model color is white I should still be able to see it because it's quite large and should be blocking view of the footprint against the white background.

Another fact is that I can view generic 3D models of components that were built on a different machine (with altium).

I think I might just give up on this, seems like a lost cause. Or maybe not related to CS.

Later I'm going to try adding the 3D model on my machine and opening them on different machine.
