Disappearing Soldermask

Hi, my Circuit Studio has a very strange habbit of removing the BGA MOSFET's Soldermask as you can see here: imageimage

This can be fixed by clicking the update button in the PCB library, however the soldermask keeps disappearing from time to time. I could not find out the reason for this, closing and opening the project and editing the project in any way does not seem to influence this and it is hard to check since it only happens sometimes. I am using the manufacturer's (EPC) library: They made the rectangular pad with the round soldermask by putting two pads on top of each other, could this be the problem? Has anyone encountered this issue as well?image

I'm not sure but I can tell you that putting multiple pads on top of each other has worked OK for me in the past.  Sometimes I might do this to get a complex pad shape.  However, when I have done that it is usually for a larger pad and especially one pad does not have solder mask rules that would conflict with another.  So, in this case I think you are suspecting the right area.

I would instead redesign the footprint solder ball to use a single pad.  If you want a rectangular pad but circle opening in the mask, then change the pad solder mask to fully close it up and then add a circular opening in the solder mask layer by drawing a shape on it directly.  It may be simpler to just use a circular pad and set the solder mask expansion to what you want.

You can then overlay/connect the pads with copper routes to get the shape you are showing.

Thanks, I'll try it and tell you if it worked image
