Error / Crash while trying to generate outputs

Hello folks,

Of late, I m running into an error while trying to generate the final fabrication outputs from within CS.

For reference I m running CS studio V 1.5.2.

No matter what I do, the job fails after generating the schematics / pcb / assembly drawing PDF and the step file.

In fact, it fails immediately after the step file and does not progress any further. Here is a screenshot of the error I m seeing.

I have sent an error report to altium after the crash.

Ancilliary issue, the scaling in the PDF is messed up as well.

These are my settings for the document generation.

But as you can see in the below image, the scaling is off totally.

I am not attaching the actual pdf and just a screenshot of the same since it is a professional project and I cant post it here.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting CS, restarting Windows.. but the issue still remains.

I will be grateful if anyone can help me address the issues I have mentioned above.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

The PDF and other printing issues often seem to be related to the driver used.

I would try a different PDF driver.  The one that CS uses to generate PDF output of schematics seems OK but I have had problems with other PDF drivers for PCB check plot output.  Scaling problems seem to be a frequent complaint.  Personally speaking, I have been using the Foxit Software PDF Reader driver with good results.  It doesn't just read but prints also.

Also, I and others have had some success in deleting the outjob file that is associated with the project.  CS will recreate this file if it is missing and doing that will sometimes clear out bad values.  In the past I have seen this when trying to print to a specific paper size and it instead generates on a different paper size.  But I cannot say for sure if there are other ways this messes up.

For your first problem with the crash.  Try doing each step one by one and figure out what one of them is causing the crash.  Based on your post I suspect a bad step model for some part.

    @Thomas

Thank you for the prompt reply.

    1. I ll give foxit a try. So far, I m just working with the bog standard defaults.

    2. I did try the deleting the outjob approach and also, uninstalling and reinstalling approach to fix the issue. Unfortunately, none worked.

The last section about the step by step approach seems to be sound. I ll give that a try tomorrow.

I am almost certain it is the step file job that causes the crash.. I ll try disabling it first and running the outjob.. and then try and isolate

which specific model is causing the issue.

    Thanks!! image
