Moving component by name

FOTIOS

Is there any shortcut key for moving a component by its name (designator)?

In CS this can be done from the menu "Tools --> Move --> Component --> mouse left-click" on the working area. In the pop-up window that arises, you can type (or select from the dropdown list) the name of the component you want.

You can select as many components as you wish if you use continuously this tool.

However, if you "escape" from this tool e.g. for "routing" some tracks, you have to repeat the above time-consuming process.

For example, in my other PCB software, you can simply press "F4" each time you want to select --> move a component on the layout, assuming that you follow the corresponding schematic document.

Under the 'View' tab, select the 'Shortcuts' button.  This brings up a list of all of the shortcuts available in CS.  If what you are looking for is not there, it probably doesn't exist.  I wish CS allowed customizable shortcuts.  Here is a link:

Could it possible to change shurtcuts ?

    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, I came across the "shortcuts" list many times without luck.

In the upper right search box, type "jump" without quotes.  This allows you to jump directly to any component.

Of course, you then need to click the mouse to move it.  image

There's a lot of good stuff you'll find under search, try "route" for instance.  If a command does nothing, then it probably was not implemented.
