Importing a DXF file, but NOT for board geometry

I'm trying to import a DXF file as an ANSI B print template on the Drill Drawing layer. When I import the file and select to map the AutoCad layer 0 to the Drill Drawing layer, the file comes in, and Circuit Studio changes the board outline to the extents of the DXF file - 11x17. How do I import a DXF file without the software presumptuously assuming I want to make the board outline from the DXF file?

I usually start a new PCB file, import the DXF into it, select the geometry I want (change layers if needed), copy them and paste them into the real PCB document.
