Design rules problem in CircuitStudio 1.5

Matt
Matt over 3 years ago

Hi All,

I have a weird problem on Circuit Studio that makes me a bit confused, if I'm missing something here or it's a software bug!

I set my design rules, and everything works well as per the rules until I update the design rule again for making some changes.

Once I update or make changes to the rules, they don't work or apply anymore until I restart the software!

Sometimes it even happens after using the software for a while, and it doesn't get back to normal until I restart it for couple of times!

It's annoying, especially when doing large designs.

Anybody here has had the same experience or know how to deal with this issue?

Thanks,

Matt

Hey,  Since no one else responded I will take a chance to help or at least further along the post.

I have not seen the behavior you report.  When I change a rule and then click the apply button and exit the design rule setup I typically see the on-line DRC process run and the PCB gets updated.  Maybe you can define some specific rules or examples to test.  If you found a solution to the problem then please repost what you found.

    Thanks.

    Hey there,

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I have this problem specifically on differential pairs. I've got five different classes for differential pairs and when I encounter this issue, everything gets back to the default differential pairs values in the software and does not apply my predefined rules. I haven't had this problem on single ended traces or power routes.

I would tend to assume this is a software bug!

I've been using the CS for last few months, and I never been able to find a solution but restarting the program!

    Cheers,

Good luck anyway.  I have not used diff pairs much in CS.  We tend to use Mentor Graphics or AD seat for more advanced designs.  If you want someone to experiment then maybe create a small test design that can be shared with Altium or with the forum for duplication of the problem.  It could be then tested in the beta version of CS (aka CircuitMaker Pro).
