Buying CircuitStudio

John512
John512 over 3 years ago

Hi,

I've placed CircuitStudio in my basket, and I'm being told it'll be put on back order. As far as I know Element14 is the exclusive distributor, and I didn't think you could really run out of stock of a software (but ok, maybe ran out of pre-generated licenses?).

How can I get a license? When? Is Altium just not selling it anymore?

Thanks!

Welcome to the shambolic process of buying Circuit Studio from E14. I don't know if this is typical but it was my experience.

    1. Order online.

    2. Wait the '2-3 business days for Digital Delivery' as per the order acknowledgement email.

    3. After another few days of nothing happening, contact E14 sales. They reply that your order is on hold waiting for you to supply your name, company name, address, phone and email (all available on your E14 account). Reply with the details.

    4. Contact Altium directly urging them not to use E14 as a sole distributor.

    5. After another few days receive an activation email from Altium. From memory this is just a formality as the trial version was activated on line via the Altium user account.

Overall about 10 days from placing the order with E14. While it may have improved since last year, it's probably best not to wait and just contact E14 sales to get the ball rolling.

No idea what processes are involved between E14 and Altium. Possibly mail.

Step 4 is absolutley crucial here. My process was very similiar, but even more messy because of a lot of confusion.
