Hello,
I am having a few issues with CS preventing me from purchasing the software.
1) Where can I add slotted holes? Also, any libraries that did have slotted holes appear to be converted to simple round holes.
2) I cannot move more than one component if it is routed. Well, unless it only has one single track. I get an error: "Move several tracks not available"... eg. screenshot below. This is the one that flipped a switch in my head from, "OK, I can see making the stretch and purchasing a 2.5kUSD package - this is doable!" to: "You. Have. Got. To. Be. Kidding. Me." and forcing me to ask if this is a bug before questioning the sanity of the good folks at Altium. Maybe there is a workaround so I'll give Altium the benefit of the doubt for now. If this was a planned restriction, I am offended as a trial user and this would be enough to deter me as a customer.
3) Are there plans to allow users to update shortcut keys? Many things are there but they are all very different from what I'm used to... some are missing like 'flip board' and whatnot. Should have just kept the default AD shortcuts, if anything... this one isn't a deal breaker but I think pretty much every other board software I've used has updatable shortcuts.
4) The cost is a stretch for me - esp. considering the missing features which are commonplace in most free alternatives. Pulsonix is about the same price but has far more features at the cost of the rather steep learning curve (I am a long time AD user so I know the lay of the land already). I'm still evaluating this package.
Hopefully some folks can help answer a few of the questions. All in all it's a good piece of software and a good effort but regardless of what Altium and element14 have to price it at, 2.5k is a ton of money for an individual just getting started. I could still swing it but with very rudimentary features missing (or possibly just 'blocked') - item 2) is blowing my mind - 2.5k isn't happening. CM isn't for companies that *need* to have local storage and protect their IP. CS is almost there. Hopefully some of these things can be sorted out or already are.
Thanks!
