CircuitStudio 1.5 bugs and further support

Hello

I'm trying the 30 days trial of CS 1.5.
I noticed some minors bugs like the hyperlink in the schematic cannot be deleted or the selection action can select only the components inside area, while, usually, in all CADs a selection area starting from right with mouse cursor moving from right to left selects all the components that cross the selection area and not only the components inside the selection area.

So, i'm not sure if it is worth to buy.

I see that the 1.5 release came out few years ago.

I'm interested to know if Altium company is working on CircuitStudio in order to patch the software or if it is a dead project. Will they release a 1.6 in future?

Thank you.

If a 1.6 or 2.x version will be released i can consider to buy a license, if it will be stuck at 1.5 version without support i think it is not worth to buy.

I tryed Altium in past and I don't know why the dont realease a "Altium Basic" version with some actions not available(with greyed commands on menù), keeping all the keyboard shortcut and all the stuff but limiting the user experience to the circuitstudio feature.

    Hi,

It's not a dead project, but you can see for yourself the time spacing between releases, and come up with a sensible decision based on your needs.

There is a discussion thread about new releases here:

    /products/manufacturers/altium/f/forum/51111/altium-support-of-circuitstudio

You can sort that discussion by newest comments. There are comments from 5 months ago, I think that's the latest update.

    In those comments:

"They are working very hard on CS 2.0 and resources are limited.
The new version will likely have updates more often. As I write this comment, I can assure everyone, Altium is indeed working on CS 2.0, it is no longer called CMP and I think it is coming very soon but they could not provide a date."

Regarding your comment about why they don't just grey out some commands from the full Altium version, at a guess, it's perhaps because they believe that risks their breadwinner product, i.e. their thinking could be, why add functionality (greying out commands is actually additional code) that would need testing, and could risk their core product failing in additional unexpected ways for their main customers. I don't necessarily entirely agree with such a line of thinking, but I can see that the product manager of their core product may not wish to tamper with the product in such a way, especially since it is highly likely that Circuit Studio owners are not likely to upgrade to the full Altium product. From what I've seen, it is the other way, i.e. people that can no longer justify the full Altium product, moving down to CircuitStudio.

the selection action can select only the components inside area,
while, usually, in all CADs a selection area starting from right
with mouse cursor moving from right to left selects all the
components that cross the selection area and not only the
    components inside the selection area.

That sounds like a design choice more than a bug.
