problem running cs in vmware on linux host

Former Member

Hi and thanks for reading me ...

I have problem running CS in a Windows 7 guest in a VMware Linux host.

When I open the pcb editor, the central view where is supposed to show the pcb you are drawing is never refreshed.

All the other parts of the window works correctly ... only the central view is never drawn.

It happens only to me?

D.

You can run CircuitStudio well using WINE as an option.

If you are running a Debian linux distro, you can follow the instructions here and it will work as well with CircuitStudio as it does with CircuitMaker: http://circuitmaker.com/blog/Blogs/3-steps-for-installing-circuitmaker-on-linux

Michael "window" part where there should be pcb is never redrawn (and it's like transparent, I can see my windows desktop) ... I will reinstall in next minutes an take a screen shoot.
I'm suspicions the install problem I got in wine (check below post) where login popup is not drawn is a similar problem.

    Ahh!

Yes it is indeed asking for username and password.

What to do when the blue box appears:

carefully type in your email address, press TAB once

carefully type in your password, press ENTER.

I have seen this on some systems but not sure why it happens on some and not others...

Are you by chance running Ubuntu with all the 3d and visual effects turned on?

    Ohhh ... I'll try tomorrow.

It will be OK for the evaluation but I will never trust a wine solution for my productivity.

Ben don't know if you are a developer, but I think there is some problems with layers and that in some way it come out with Linux.

X server has normal acceleration stuff as DRI2 and GLX  and everything running smooth with normal application.
I think stuff like effects on Linux affect only window decorations not the application it self.

Anyway I tried to disable 3D acceleration in VMWare virtual machine but it did not worked.

Managed to install it, but it seems has some more problems when opening GSM sample project.

It will show those three popup and than it hangs ... when almost finished to generate document preview.

Hmm. I was never a big fan of Vmware. Have you, by chance, tried Virtual Box?
