Delete Output folder when BOM is created

Hello All:

 

I see a strange behavior (at least to me) when generating outputs.

From the PCB document, going to Outputs, I can generate Gerber ad NC Drill files and CS creates an Output folder where all these files are deposited.

After this, to create the BOM, I go to Project->Generate outputs and selecting the BOM and clicking Generate, it creates a Default Configuration folder and an Ouput folder inside it, where finally the BOM is deposited. HOWEVER, this last action DELETES the Output folder previously created when Gerbers and NC Drills were created...

Is this correct? I know I can also generate the Gerber and NC Drills from the Project->Generate Outputs window, but I don't understand why is deleting the previously generated information, especially if the new information is created in a different folder....

 

Is this a bug or Am I doing something wrong?

  • Hi Gus. I've queried this behaviour before with Altium and it is just the way it works. Be aware that everything in the output folder will be deleted even if not related to anything generated by CircuitStudio. The motto of this story is to make sure to never set the output folder location to an existing folder who's contents you want to keep.
