How to define component keepout area?

There are many situations, where we can find restrictions for component placement. Sometimes there are restrictions due to collision avoidance with the case or you don't want to place a component in front of a 90° header so you can fit the plug.

 

I found the Keepout object to define areas to prevent the placement of copper. You also kann select mechanical layers in the keepout properties, but they seem to have no effect on component placements.

 

Are there any tools in CircuitStudio to meet this needs?

How do you handle such design situations or do I have to keep tracking them manually?

    I have not done this with CircuitStudio yet but in Altium Designer a way to do this was to set up rules and regions. You could also have height restrictions in those areas so that certain components would be acceptable but other taller ones would not.  Hopefully, CS allows this also.

    I was curious about this myself so I played with it a bit today.  Probably to be expected but Circuitstudio seems to be less powerful than Altium Designer for the rules that can be defined.  However, you should be able to set a component placement rule for one component to another and on specific layers.  For example, where first object is J1 on top layer and second object matches all.

     

    However, when I tried this for a surface mount connector it showed rule violations for components placed on the opposite board layer.  The rules are either not intuitive to me or aren't working.
