How to activate on a new computer?

dias_srw

Perhaps this should also be subtitled "how do I get support?" because I have tried both phone support and email support with no luck today.  (I've waited over 5 hours for the promised call back.)

On February 10, 2017 I installed a trial version of CircuitStudio. I used it until March 10th.  On March 10th I purchased a license. (I believe I did it from inside of CircuitStudio.)  The computer it was on recently started blue-screening so I set up a new computer to use.  Last week I attempted to install and activate my license for CircuitStudio, but was unable to.  When I log in, the Licenses page in CircuitStudio tells me that my subscription expired on March 10, 2017. (the same day I purchased it.)  My understanding is I was supposed to get 1 year of subscription and I should be able to re-install during that year.  Did I misunderstand?  Did I waste my money buying software that can't be re-installed on a new computer?

CS was marketed as a "perpetual license" alternative to the now subscription-only Eagle, but if "Perpetual" means I can only use it as long as my current computer works, I will not be a happy customer.

Hi Scott, I can confirm your request is in progress. It involves a change of license email so is currently waiting on Altium to update your license. Once complete you should receive a new email. For confirmation, the license is perpetual and is not restricted to just the one computer you originally installed it on. The software maintenance portion will expire (i.e. right to receive updates), this can be renewed but only if you want to, it is not required in order to use the software.

Can you explain why this involves a change of email?  You're not going to mess up my other license, are you?

You asked for it to work with a different email address. Do you have more than one license?

I did not ask for it to work with a different email address.  I have no idea where that came from.  I have attempted to email more detailed information to software@element14.com, but I just got bounces last night and this morning.  (Why would your email server take four days to bounce my messages?)

Please re-read my top post here.  It explains my problem.  I never mentioned an email address.  The problem is, I didn't get the one year of included updates.

Hi Scott, nothing received as yet, looks like there are some problems with receiving your emails. Do you have a different account you can send from?

I hate to put too much detailed info in the public like this, but since it seems my emails aren't getting to you, I'll try to provide enough information for you to understand.

My name is Scott Walde.  I purchased a license for CircuitStudio for MY business on April 29, 2017.  That is NOT the license I am having trouble with.  (Although, now I'm afraid you might have broken that one too.)

I work part time for a company called DIAS Geophysical.  THEY bought a license for me to use there on their computer on March 10, 2017.  THAT is the computer (not laptop) that crashed.  That license should be tied to my email address ending in diasgeo.com.  That license is the one that shows the subscription expired on March 10th, 2017. (but the invoice # INV00001207 shows the subscription should be valid to March 9, 2018.)

Please do NOT combine those two accounts.  One belongs to me.  One belongs to DIAS Geophysical.  I have no idea where you (the grand you) got the idea that I wanted to move my Waldetech license to my DIAS email.
