Fiducials / pick and place / BOM

batuu

I have my fiducials defined as components with symbol and footprint. Because they are a kind of special component that I don't want to appear in the BOM, I choose the component type "Standard (No BOM)". But with this type they also don't appear in the pick and place data. When I choose type "Standard", they appear in pick and place data but also im BOM.

What settings are intended for fiducial to appear in pick and place data but not in the BOM?

Best regards,

Oliver

    batuu,

For this you will need to go into your variants.  Under the Project Tab, you can select the variant that you are currently working with.  Click on the Variants button and it will bring up a window in which you can change any features of the population.  If you don't want fiducials placed then you select 'not fitted' under component variation.  This will eliminate them from your BOM but still keep them on the pick n' place files.

    James,

thank you for your response. Your method did not work for me. If I set the fiducials as not fitted, they disappear in the BOM and in the pick and place data. By the way, this is also my expected behaviour. If I set a component as not fitted, I don't want it in the pick and place data.

    Best Regards,

    Oliver

The trick may work if you don't really need variants and use them to fake the data you need. In the generate output dialog you can opt to have each output based on a different variant. If you have the fiducials defined as not fitted in one variant but available in another then you should be able to set the BOM and pick & place to use different variants and so generate the data you need.
