Multi layer pads

If i add a part to a library, from snapEDA the PCB footprint has all the pads as multi layer, so when you autoroute it no via's are created as the autorouter thinks SMT pads are through holes, I can go into the part and change all the pads to "top layer" but then if i place the part on the bottom of the board the pads are on the top layer, components from the standard libraries just switch the pads from top to bottom layer when you alter the parts location, how do i specify the pads are the same layer as the parts rather than a fixed layer?

  • If you bring up the pad properties you will most likely need to change the Layer from Multi-Layer to Top Layer. This assumes your component is drawn as it fitting on top of the board. Check which layers have been used for the other elements of the component. If all have been drawn on the bottom then set the pad to Bottom Layer to match.
