Own Vault for Companies

Hello

We use Altium Circuit Studios in our company. Now we need a "Private Vault" or a shared library, that everyone can use and edit all the components we have. Now everyone has his own library but this resulted in a huge mess.

Is it Possible to build a own Vault or something like this?

Greetings

Hi Peter Thanks for the answer. I will look if i can find a working Librarian tool. Are there shared Vaults for the Normal Altium?

Hi Dario. CircuitStudio does not support private vaults only the online one. If you have a shared network drive then you should be able to have all engineers sharing centralised integrated libraries (*.intlib). Updating the libraries would probably be better handled by a librarian or at least in a controlled manner. The source files for the integrated library could be shared and allow one user at once to update and publish the results. You would also need a procedure in place so that once a component is created or updated the other engineers are made aware and can update their designs where appropriate.

If you use SVN (subversion) you could make available the library's for your co-workers. We use Tortoise SVN and this open-source software allow the user to lock the file that is edited (so another user can't edit while current edit is in progress). CS has embedded support for SVN so everybody will see in the Project Tab if the files are out-of-date.

Altium Designer has full support for vaults but CircuitStudio does not - the only one it can access is the online Altium provided vault. Both Altium Designer and CircuitStudio can access library files (intlib, schlib, pcblib) so if you are needing to share between the two packages then library files will be the way to go.

I don't believe CS supports these.

As a slightly-middle-finger-ish gesture, right-clicking a .LibPkg project shows SVN Database Library Maker wizard. This is a tool that enables one to create an SVN-backed Database Library. I assume it works well, as indeed, it seems CS can't use it...
