Courtyard and assembly layer work only on one side

lupal

Dear all,

I am drawing a board which had disabled Courtyard bottom bottom side.

When placing components the original Courtyard bottom layer was automatically moved to top side.

Now when I enabled the Courtyard bottom layer, the courtyard bottom elements belonging to bottom side are still shown on top side even if I place a new component.

So no data is shown on Courtyard bottom layer.

Once I dealt with this using a new board, copying old board to it and replacing all components one by one. It was very laborious.

I would like to avoid doing this.

The same behavior applies to Assembly top/bottom layers.

CS is version 1.4.

Thank you,

Lukas

Hi Lukas, can I ask how are you switching components from one side of board to the other (what technique, key sequence). Is the problem reproducible or does it just happen on this one design and one previous design you mentioned?

    Hi Peter,

I played a little bit with it. I could not reproduce it with a new board but I cleaned the board a little bit and uploaded it for trying.

And I would like to be more precise on changing the layer - I press the left mouse button on the component, keep holding it move mouse location, place L and release the left button.

Hi Lukas - thanks for sharing the board unfortunately our IT people do not allow downloading from dropbox and similar sites. If you zip up and email through to us at software@element14.com I will be able to pick up the design from there.

Many thanks for the file. I believe that the part that has gone wrong was a standard vault component CMP-1048-00779-1 with footprint ONSC-SOT-23-3-08_V? I have tried adding this to a new board and all seems well but will experiment some more to discover if I can force it to go wrong.

Maybe I was not specific enough. Also many other components (probably all I have) from the vault and from my own components. I guess it is something wrong with the board.

One more thing I have to mention. One thing is to find out what is wrong. Other thing is to find some fast solution. I could "fix the board" with by copying the data to a new board and replace the components manually one by one but I would like to find a clever way.

I don't know of any clever way to fix the issue. For the sample board provided would you like me to pass to Altium for further investigation?

    Ok Peter,

    thank you very much.

We'll have to deal with it manually.

    Yes, please pass further.
