Circuit Studio - RS-Components supplier link not working

pauly

Hi,

When I go to add a supplier link to a component, I find that Farnell and Mouser correctly report part information but Digi-Key and RS-Components do not. It seems that the Digi-Key link is known to be broken now (from googling the issue) but why does the RS-Components link also fail? It's difficult to capture the error but here it is (translated from French): "the server could not process the request. An exception was raised by the type initializer for 'byben.radiospares.webservices.rs ...".

RS-Components are of course saying that the problem is with Circuit Studio!

Paul

Hi Paul. If it will help you make your case then I can supply a temporary license to allow you to run the latest version to test the supplier links for yourself. Email software@element14.com if you want…

Digi-Key turned off their API access so the older CircuitStudio's will no longer work with this provider. You need to use CS 1.5.2 and switch to using the Altium Parts Provider. Testing RS does seem to return an error with the 'old' provider but switching to the Altium Parts Provider will return a component list for supplier links (tested this just now).

Thanks Peter. Good to know how the problem can be fixed. Unfortunately we don't have an active maintenance subscription and so I'm not sure if I can justify buying 1.5.2 on the grounds of the Digi-Key and RS-Components supplier links alone. I see there's a webinar on this subject so I'll view that to see if I can make the case!
