Maxim's integrated APD solution saves space by eliminating the discrete high-voltage components required for APD biasing and current monitoring.
SUNNYVALE, CA—November 23, 2009—Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the DS1842, a 76V APD bias output stage and current-monitoring IC in a 3mm x 3mm TDFN package. Designed using Maxim's state-of-the-art BiCMOS process, this device integrates a high-voltage (76V) current source and dual current mirrors for monitoring APD current. It also includes a FET switch that is configured to work in conjunction with an external DC-DC controller to implement a DC-DC boost converter. The DS1842 is well suited for APD biasing and current monitoring in GPON ONUs and OLTs.
The DS1842 is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range, and is available in a small, 3mm x 3mm, 14-pin TDFN package with an exposed pad. Pricing begins at $0.90 (1000-up, FOB USA).
