Maxim's new, 5mm x 5mm PMIC integrates all functional blocks required to power LCD TV panels.
SUNNYVALE, CA—January 13, 2010—Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) announces the MAX17113, a fully integrated PMIC that minimizes solution size and cost in LCD TVs. This device integrates a boost regulator, a buck regulator, adjustable positive and negative charge-pump regulators, and a p-channel MOSFET switch. Fabricated using Maxim's proprietary high-voltage BiCMOS process, the 5mm x 5mm MAX17113 integrates all function blocks required to power the LCD source drivers, gate drivers, and panel logic. It thus provides a cost-effective power solution for large LCD panels.
The boost and buck regulators have a selectable 450kHz/600kHz switching frequency and feature internal 20V power MOSFETs. The boost regulator delivers output voltages up to 20V from an 8V to 16.5V input while achieving > 85% efficiency; the buck regulator has an adjustable 1.5V to 5V output. The integrated charge-pump regulators provide the TFT gate-driver supply voltage. A pFET is included for AVDD sequencing, thus eliminating the need for an external pFET in series with the input supply.
The MAX17113 is available in a 5mm x 5mm, 40-pin TQFN package and is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range. Prices start at $1.30 (1000-up, FOB USA).
