Maxim introduces a PROFIBUS-DP/RS-485 transceiver that combines ±35kV ESD protection with an automotive temperature range for demanding applications.
SUNNYVALE, CA—February 9, 2010—Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX14770E PROFIBUS-DP/RS-485 transceiver. Maxim's next-generation BiCMOS process technology enables the device to achieve fast (20Mbps) data throughput while integrating robust (±35kV, HBM) ESD-protected structures in a small TDFN package. Additionally, the device is fully specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range to ensure reliable operation in rugged environments. A pin-compatible upgrade for the MAX3469, the MAX14770E is ideal for industrial motor-control applications, PROFIBUS-DP/RS-485 networks, and fieldbuses.
The MAX14770E provides flexibility with the industry's widest supply range tolerance (+5V ±10%). It is available in a small (3mm x 3mm), automotive-grade, 8-pin TDFN package, as well as an industry-standard, 8-pin SO package that is specified over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range. Prices start at $1.90 (1000-up, FOB USA).
