The MAX17122 PMIC integrates three regulators to provide high-efficiency, fixed-frequency, and cost-effective operation for LCD HDTV panels.
SUNNYVALE, CA—February 24, 2010—Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) announces the MAX17122, a multiple-output power-supply IC that integrates three regulators whose high-efficiency and fixed-frequency operation allow the use of small inductors and capacitors. This results in a compact and cost-competitive solution for the power requirements of thin-film transistor (TFT) LCD HDTV panels. The MAX17122 operates from 8V to 16.5V input voltages and is optimized for applications running directly from 12V regulated supplies.
The MAX17122 includes a 22V internal-switch step-down regulator for digital logic; a 16.5V internal-switch step-up regulator to power the TFT source drivers; and a temperature-compensated 36V internal-switch boost-buck regulator that produces a negative output which varies according to the temperature sensed by an external NTC thermistor. The GATE output directly drives an external p-channel MOSFET to provide True Shutdown of the step-up output.
The MAX17122 is available in a 6mm x 6mm, 40-pin TQFN package and operates over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range. Prices start at $1.10 (1000-up, FOB USA).
