Some designs use a touch screen and a physical keypad with Braille. Other designs use a physical button below the screen with Braille - this causes the panel to count up slowly in large font with a verbal readout. The user can press the button again when the count reaches their chosen floor number. These help to ensure the elevator controls are accessible.
At one org we briefly considered digital signage for building stats and revealing which rooms were free, since we had that data in real-time. Locations such as outside lifts was considered, using high-res HDMI display panels. There were lots of tech and non-tech considerations however!
