CamdenBoss has launched a new range of maintenance-free gel valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries designed specifically for use in solar panel and similar applications where intermittent charging routines are the norm. The new BES series batteries are spill- and leak-proof and feature a gelled electrolyte with valve regulation to negate the need for addition of electrolyte and ensure maintenance-free operation throughout design life. Gel technology ensures excellent recovery from deep discharge, an ideal characteristic where the battery is continuously charged and discharged while offering improved tolerance to temperature conditions compared with absorbent glass mat (AGM) batteries. The batteries also feature low self-discharge to minimise energy wastage. The BES series features the addition of phosphoric acid to improve the battery charging capabilities under poor or sporadic charging routines such as those provided by solar panels. This makes them an ideal choice where such panels are used to provide power away from mains electricity such as signage including road signs, signalling, remote communications and repeater stations, building installations, hybrid power supplies and street and garden lighting.
Available in 6 and 12V versions, the BES series is initially available in 18, 26, 33, 44, 110 and 230Ah versions with additional models to follow.
