ithlete is a unique tool to help recreational and competitive sports enthusiasts adjust their training schedule to match the ability of their bodies. Available first as an application for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch, ithlete is soon to be available for other smartphones. The application works with a special ECG receiver that picks up and analyses individual heart beats from a chest strap transmitter, of the kind already worn by many sports enthusiasts. A one-minute test every morning tells the athlete whether to train as normal, go easy or take a rest day so that their body can adapt to training, becoming stronger & fitter more quickly than they would have done by following an off the shelf training plan. The system was designed by UK startup HRV Fit Ltd, which wanted to design the custom ECG receiver initially to test the market. After a search of qualified UK suppliers, CamdenBoss was appointed to produce the first few hundred devices using CNC milling for the enclosures. Having determined strong demand for the product, HRV Fit was looking for a high volume supplier, and thought it would have to change supplier and go straight to the Far East. Fortunately, though, CamdenBoss was able to use it's presence in Shenzhen to create a smooth transition path to high volume production and a fully professional moulded design. Both companies are now gearing up to high growth for this unique product over the coming few years!
