I know Eaton uses the INCOM protocol, but I still wonder if I can use the RS-232RS-232 port on my laptop to get power and energy out of the PM3?

Eaton's INCOM protocol is the communication netwok that Eaton used for their older Power Monitoring software and system. Today Eaton uses primarily Ethernet as their communication network for power monitoring. The Power Xpert Architecture (see link below)
is discussed in detail with tutorials and Demo's are available.

In the documentation they describe how to connect to the Ethernet network from your laptop/ computer.
