New Product Introduction: Basic Force Sensors, Compensated, Unamplified, TBF Series

Honeywell is pleased to announce its new Basic Force Sensors, Compensated, Unamplified, TBF Series, Honeywell’s smallest force sensor. The TBF Series Basic Force Sensor expands Honeywell’s Basic Pressure Sensor platform (TBP Series) into the flush diaphragm space previously occupied by Honeywell’s 1865 Series Force Sensors. The TBF Series are flush diaphragm pressure sensors designed for customers who require a simple device for applications where media compatibility and low trapped volume are important. Precisely controlled diaphragm height makes the sensor useful in applications where force is applied by a flexible membrane to the sensor, such as infusion pumps.

FEATURES

  • Cost-effective sensor with many options
  • Internally unamplified
    • Provides infinite resolution
    • Allows customers to do their own amplification in order to make use of the maximum resolution of the bare sensor output, leveraging any algorithm needed for the application
  • Internally temperature compensated/calibrated
  • Small package size [7 mm x 7 mm x 3,89 mm]
  • Wide pressure range [1 to 10 bar; 100 kPa to 1 MPa; 15 to 150 psi]
  • Wide operating temperature range [0 °C to 50 °C; 32 °F to 122 °F]
  • Low power consumption allows for potential use in battery operated applications
  • Stable offset voltage
  • Not sensitive to mounting orientation
  • RoHS2 compliance

COMPARISON: Honeywell TBF Series and 1865 Series Force Sensors

Currently, Honeywell’s 1865 Series Force Sensors may potentially be used in medical applications such as infusion/syringe pumps and drug delivery systems. The primary differences between TBF Series and 1865 Series are:

  • Size: TBF Series' smaller size helps customers minimize assembly size and cost by minimizing
PCB space of the application, and allows for potential use in portable and wearable applications where small size and light weight are important. Length/width: 60% smaller than 1865 Series. Height: 65% smaller than 1865 Series
  • Pressure range: TBF Series provide up to 5 times the pressure of the 1865 Series, allowing the customer to select the range required to help maximize sensitivity and improve system resolution/performance.
  • Overpressure: TBF Series provide higher, more durable overpressures.
  • Accuracy: TBF Series provide a single accuracy spec which includes all errors due to force nonlinearity, force hysteresis and non-repeatability.
