    HI MIKE,

Im using PIC24EP512GU814 a 16bit controller, im very new to this 16 bit controller. and what my doubt is, i cant able to identify the TX and RX pin of UART. but it having 4UART's. In the Pin out diagram i found PPS(Peripheral Pin Select) from that we can modify the IO's, but still i cant understand which pin is used for TX and RX. could you help me to identify the Pins of UART.

    Thanks in advance,

    Anboli.C

    Dear Anboli,

Most of the Microchip 16bits products have "PPS" Peripheral Pin Select which allows to connect digital I/O pins to digital peripherals by programming (like an FPGA).

So at reset, the internal peripherals are not anymore connected to pins ;=)

You have to program how they should be connected. This is very flexible. You can even dynamically change connections while the micro is running !!!

Of course this is not so easy to do the first time, this is why there are many code examples.

At first, I suggest you read the Family Reference Manual related to PPS for your PIC24EP512GU814.

Then, to save time use the code example which shows how to setup registers to map I/O to/from peripherals.

In fact most digital peripherals will need to setup appropriate pins so any code example using a digital peripheral will have code to do that.

Go on the page of the PIC24FJ512GU814 and look for the code examples :

    Have fun with PPS ;=)

    Regards
