PIC18 USB mass storage

Hi,

 

I'm using PIC18F46J50 in mass storage volume application and i've a problem when i use it with MAC computers. I need only 4ko for my application, but when i connect my µC to a MAC, it create some hidden files into my volume, and it make it full, so i can't add or modify my file.

How i can stop this effect?

  • Well, this is a Mac question and not a PIC question because it happens to every removable storage device you place in a Mac.

    The solution is to create a zero length file called ".metadata_never_index" (Without the quotes, but with the leading dot).

     

    This will prevent the Mac from creating spotlight indexes on the device. I'm pretty sure it'll be the spotlight index which is taking up your space.
