Use the USB device CDC demo but with the USB Host Port? (PIC32 Ethernet Starter Kit)

Hello,

I use the USB Device - CDC - Basic Demo for Ethernet Starter Kit and it works with the USB OTG port (J5).

Is it possible to use this code but with the USB Host port? What do I  have to modify? Is there a demo using this configuration ?

If I have a cable with the two extremity in A connectors, it would be  the same thing as an USB Key that you plug into your computer, no?

I know it's on contrary with the specifications but it would work even if it's a "bad" connection ?

Furthermore, as I can see in the DS of the starter  kit, the only difference between the two connectors is the pin  "RF3/USBID".

There is no connection to this pin with the Host connector.

Maybe it's that which cause the difference at final, no?

Thank you image

    Hi,

Unfortunately not. The USB stack for device and HOST are completely different...

You need to either start from an existing HOST project in the Microchip Application Libraries or start fom the USB configuration tool.

My recommendation to you if it is a professionnal project is to attend USB trainings in the Microchip Training centers (http://www.microchip.com/RTC).

Trainings are offered alla round the world regularly.

The reference of the classes are COM3101 (basics bout USB device) & COM32302 (USB HOST). Note : COM3101 is necessary to take part ot COM3202.

This would save you a couple of months or even more while getting a very professional training how to use these stacks.

    regards
