Extreme low power microcontrollers featuring nanoWatt XLP Technology offer the industry’s lowest currents for Sleep.
As more electronic applications require low power or battery power, energy conservation becomes paramount.
Today’s applications must consume little power, and in extreme cases, last for up to 15-20 years, while running from a single battery. To enable applications like these, Microchip has introduced nanoWatt XLP Technology. Extreme low power microcontrollers featuring nanoWatt XLP Technology offer the industry’s lowest currents for Sleep, where extreme low power applications spend 90%-99% of their time.
Benefits of nanoWatt XLP Technology include:
- Sleep / Power-down current down to 13 nA
- Brown-out Reset down to 45 nA
- Watch-dog Timer down to 400 nA
- Real-time Clock/Calendar down to 500 nA
Low Power Integration
Many of today’s low power products also need advanced peripherals. Microchip offers low power devices with peripherals like USB, LCD, RTCC and mTouch capacitive sensing. This eliminates the need for additional parts in the application, saving cost, current and complexity.
Deep Sleep Mode
The most recently introduced nanowatt XLP PIC MCUs ( PIC18F46J50 , PIC18F46J11 and PIC24F16KA102 families ) all feature Deep Sleep Mode , this offers significantly lower sleep currents than normal sleep mode – although wake up times may be extended , a comparison is shown
below.
PIC18F46J50 Nanowatt XLP PIC MCU – with USB – 28 / 44 Pins
The new NanoWatt XLP family – PIC18F46J50 includes Deep Sleep mode for low power applications, Peripheral Pin Select for design flexibility for mapping peripherals to I/O pins and a CTMU module for easy capacitive touch user interfaces. The PIC18F46J50 family is ideal for applications requiring cost-effective, low-power USB solutions with a robust peripheral set in a small package.
Development support for these XLP parts is provided by a Plug in Module (MA180024) shown below that can either be used independently or fitted to the PIC18 Explorer Board (DM183032).
PIC18F46J11 Nanowatt XLP PIC MCU – General Purpose – 28 / 44 Pins
This family provides low power and high performance 8-bit MCU with peripheral flexibility in a small package for cost sensitive applications in the PIC18 J-series. New features include Deep sleep mode for low power applications, Peripheral Pin Select for design flexibility for mapping peripherals to I/O pins and a CTMU module for easy capacitive touch user interfaces. The PIC18F46J11 family is ideal for applications requiring cost-effective, low-power solutions with a robust peripheral set in a small package.
Development support for the PIC18F46J11 parts is provided by a Plug in Module ( MA180023) shown below that can either be used independently or fitted to the PIC18 Explorer Board (DM183032).
PIC24F16KA102 Nanowatt XLP 16 –Bit PIC MCU – General Purpose – 20 / 28 Pins
PIC24F 16-bit Microcontroller featuring nanoWatt XLP for extreme Low Power consumption. Designed for power constrained and battery powered applications. Features unique peripherals like DSBOR, DSWDT and RTCC which run in Deep Sleep mode for industry leading low power performance.
Development support for these XLP parts is provided by a Plug in Module (MA240017) shown below – that can be fitted to Microchip’s Explorer 16 development board.
