Franck Roux is a channel marketing manager for the Network Processor Division. His responsibilities include promoting Power Architecture, QorIQ over sub key markets such as IP services, access, storage, SoHo and Industrial markets. Franck joined Motorola in 1997 as Distributors Sales Manager for France.

    Hi Frank,

     

    Not sure my question came through earlier.  On the MPC8303 I see there's support for the IEEE1588 in the Ethernet MAC module. What are Software stacks options that are ported to the processor that can run on the Ethernet MAC and that utlize the IEEE1588 Time stamping?  Interested to know more about these Real Time Ethernet protocols.

    Hi Gordon

     

    MPC8308  Etsec include timer clock module to suport the IEEE STD 1588 standard.Reference manual MPC8308RM posted on freescale web site highlight  in section 16.6.6 all details to insert Time Stamps on the Transmit & Received packets.You will find as well on freescale web site MPC8308 Linux BSP which include Drivers & API to implement 1588 time stamps.Our Partner Ixxat (www.ixxat.com)  have developped a wide range off IEEE 1588 Protocol Software available for  MPC8308.We also set some application notes and training on PTP ( Precision Time Protocols) available on freescale web site http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/overview.jsp?code=APLMNFCTRG , which include further details on Real Time Ethernet protocols.
