Nice quiz. It took a bit of guessing to get the 100%.

Good catch, the datasheet shows a range, 8 to 16 amps

Hooray! Eventually managed to get 100%. First time I obtained 48% then followed the link to the Omron webpages, decided there was too much to read about and went back, only to find all my original answers had gone. So the second time I just selected the first answer to each question and still got 24%. I must have known something about relays after all.

I worked in a relay factory in Coventry for a while as part of my Graduate training, although strangely, not on relays. The factory was only 5 minutes from where I was living at the time so we could go home for lunch. I should have had sandwiches and stayed at the factory as once you'd clocked out, walked home, made a sandwich, it was time to go back.

    About the quiz

I have a special feeling and a long life story with relays. These were the first components I played with during the mid of '60. There was a larger diffusion of relays and was not difficult to find at the junkyard. I was fascinated by these small moving mechanism. Then in a period of my life, I started developing some industrial ergonomy application in industrial plants. In that period – the mid of 80's – I created an RS422 network of Omron PLC collecting proxemic data of the workers in their work area from heavy sensors, sending all to a PC and based on the estimated human worker stress level some relays on the PLC were blocking the activities of them imposing a period of pause. Later in 2013 then I had been commissioned by a UK company to develop an Omron digital PLC data retrieval from automated machines. These data were transmitted on a regular basis of when an alarm occurred via SMS to a remote human controller using a Telit serial to GPRS communication device. The controller – or the alarm itself – were able to stop the operating machine on failure or for some other reason via immediate relais interruption; not the entire machine can be powered off at the same time but it was necessary a sequence. I already have the Omron programmable PLC for this project development, at home in Spain.

Later in 2014, I developed another project for a US-based company working with a custom Arduino-like system controlling vending machines (old technology) and the most reliable approach to manage the dispensing mechanism was simulating the user manual actions (like buttons and some internal actuators) using digital relays.

All my knowledge on relays has never been based on academic studies but speaking with others owning the right knowledge. The result is that I passed all the question excluding those specifically related to the governing laws, principles and standard parameters that probably are instead obvious for most of the users that really have knowledge on relays. A nice way to point my attention on it is worth to focus to complete my personal knowledge on relays and their usage.

That was a tough one.  I too lazy to look up all the specs but I missed a couple where I did check.  Must be getting old.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure about Q22 but that might just be because of the way I'm interpreting the question. The datasheet-spec questions are always tough.
