PAN17xx Series – P/N: ENW89820AxKF / ENW89835xxKF

New version of AT Command Set documentation (rev 3.3b) is available now. Changes have been made as following:

  • Added new Lowering Power Consumption section that details sleep mode and provides ways to lower the module’s power consumption
  • Moved sleep mode details from PIO_3 notes to Lowering Power Consumption
  • Added default IO state section to Hardware Notes.
  • Added important note about configuration not being stored until disconnecting to Important Notes , Command Usage and ATMRC sections.
  • Added Related Applications section.
  • Removed Command Usage requirement that numerical data in responses will print with leading zeroes to keep the response length consistent as D2 does not behave this way and future S2/S3 builds will not either.
  • The factory default setting of any stored parameters will be identified by a blue background.
  • Cleaned up ATSPL documentation.
  • Added BRSP maximum theoretical throughput of 1.3kB/s note  to important notes and ATSBRSP sections.
  • Added a note about connecting to RESOLVED addresses in important notes and ATDMLE.
  • Added a secure connection example to the extended examples section.
  • Various minor corrections.

The AT command interface makes a lot of sense to me.  It can get you talking BLE fast.  The SIG would rather you create/use a Profile and Services that are specific to your application.  If you never intend for your BLE product to talk to other BLE devices, e.g. phones and tablets, and there aren't Services that lend themselves directly to your application, I don't see the motivation for using a Profile.  You lose the ability to have state machines to save transmission time, but you get the advantage of an AT interface you can talk to with few lines of code-- much simpler.

Panasonic cooperates with different companies for stacks. For our PAN17xx series as Bluetooth Low Energy Module we offer them in 2 different versions:

    - TI development environment

    - nBlue by BlueRadios

BlueRadios stack is really a nice solution!

Is Blueradio now partnered with Panasonic?

I love the BLE app with AT commands.  It reminds me of using my phone modem in the 80s!
