Clean power supply improves the sound quality of audio equipment

The proliferation of high-resolution sound sources is demanding even more accurate representation of audio data. As such, power supplied to audio devices has a significant effect on sound quality, with the power supply IC playing an important role in supplying clean power with minimal noise and voltage fluctuation.
ROHM developed the BD37201NUX high fidelity audio power supply IC featuring superior noise and voltage fluctuation characteristics by combining original audio quality design technology with power supply IC analog expertise that leverages proprietary power processes.
This makes it ideal for digital devices that operate at low voltages (i.e. DACs, DSPs).

 

< Feature 1: Improves audio quality by minimizing noise>

Adopting a low noise architecture that suppresses noise generated from the IC’s internal circuit results in significantly lower noise than standard products. This eliminates the effects of noise on the sound, resulting in clear audio with exceptional transparency.

< Feature 2: Increases audio quality through voltage stabilization>

The BD37201NUX suppresses the effects of input voltage fluctuations on the output voltage. At the same time a higher power supply rejection ratio (PSRR: the ratio of the power supply voltage fluctuation to the input offset voltage fluctuation expressed in decibels) over a wider band is achieved over conventional products, ensuring accurate representation of audio sources with superior intensity and volume.

Power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) indicates the ability to remove input power supply ripple, expressed in units of dB. The higher this number is, the better the performance.

    This product is designed to maximize the sound quality of audio equipment, and the output noise level is only one of the indicators. 

    The feature of this product is that it balances PSRR, output noise, and output deviation Optimally.

    Please try this product for high-quality audio equipment.

    It's twice the price of the LT3045 which offers 0.8uV noise across the same bandwidth as the BD37201NUX only manages 4.7uV.

     

    In round numbers that's 6x worse for twice the price = 8.3% of the value of the AD/LT part !
