Introducing the very new VL53L9CXV0VE/1 with STEVAL-VL53L9 and X-NUCLEO-53L9A1.

Hi All,

Please may I introduce our very new 3D dToF LiDAR all-in-one module with accompanying boards.

There is a wealth of information contained within this article and on our site.

VL53L9CXV0VE/1

The VL53L9CX is STMicroelectronics’ dToF 3D lidar all-in-one module, offering a high spatial resolution of 2.3 K zones. It features a 71° diagonal FoV, with 1° angular resolution across a 55° x 42° FoV. It also delivers accurate ranging from below 5 cm to 9 m.

Thanks Shabaz, this is a great question.  Today we are receiving and processing the early orders, as we move into full release during May. Demand is high as we start to send stock to our network. The distis are ready to chat about larger orders and pricing.  Today you can place your orders in readiness, helping us to prepare.  I hope this helps.

That looks interesting. I tried an 8x8 ToF sensor from a different manufacturer, but I'm keen to try this far higher-res one, but I3C rules out my favorite microcontrollers. Wondering why SPI was not used, since everything supports that. Will the part work with I2C, and what impact will there be on throughput?

Price seems steep for integration into products (I can only see Qty 25 pricing, and would have expected it to be a quarter or a third of that) for typical applications. What is the release date; when is it going to be released for purchasing from Farnell?

I really liked the VL53L0X sensors (except the library). Is there any way we can see how the newer version compares against the older version in terms of performance or features?
