Hi All,

The switching market is evolving. Engineering teams are asking for longer lifetime, lower losses, quieter operation, and easier integration — requirements that push traditional electromechanical relays to their limits.
Hybrid relays offer a compelling alternative. By combining an electromechanical relay with a solid-state path using thyristors or triacs, they deliver the benefits of both technologies, including efficient switching and improved reliability.
However, one of the main barriers to adoption has been the complexity of the control scheme, which can discourage some people from integrating hybrid relay technology into their designs.
To address this challenge, ST has developed the STDES-HBR001V1 reference design, which lets developers control a hybrid relay just like a standard electromechanical relay, helping remove adoption barriers and accelerate development.
