STMicroelectronics new adaptive gas gauge reaches 0.25% accuracy!

For battery-powered systems the challenge is to precisely predict the remaining time before recharge. STC3115 innovates proposing low power state-of-charge estimation with long-term accuracy by self-adapting to both aging and temperature changes.

STC3115 features patented innovations. It performs both coulomb counting and periodic voltage-mode state-of-charge measurements to adjust the Coulomb counter for accuracy.

The STC3115 uses both sets of measurements continuously with OptimGaugeTm, an adaptive algorithm that tracks the state of charge and corrects the battery model all along the battery lifetime.

It is available in a 1.4 x 2.0 mm package.
