STM32 evaluation boards provide complete development platforms for the STM32 Value line. They provide flexible and open design solutions for demonstrating device capabilities, evaluating features and peripherals. Depending on the model, they include an STM32 microcontroller with a high-performance ARM Cortex-M3 core, full speed USB 2.0 interface (device or host/OTG), Ethernet, CAN 2.0A/B compliant interface, I²C, SPI, USART with smartcard support and internal SRAM and Flash memory. The evaluation boards include a complete range of hardware features for evaluating microcontroller performance and starting development of a wide range of applications.
The STM32 value line Discovery evaluation board is based on an STM32F100RB and includes ST-Link embedded debug tool interface, LEDs and push buttons, essentially a low-cost tool that includes all that is needed to get started.
A number of ready-to-run application firmware examples are available on www.st.com/stm32-discovery to support development & quick evaluation using extension header for connection to other boards or devices.
The 'Getting Started' user manual (UM0919) is attached to this article, highlighting hardware and layout, detailing the featured microcontroller, showing usage of the Embedded ST-Link integrated on the STM32VL-Discovery, programming / debugging external STM32 applications as well as power-up information.
Also attached is the Application Note (AN3268) providing descriptions for firmware demonstration, with examples covering features of the 'value line', folders with libraries & drivers.
Features include:
- STM32F100RB microcontroller with 128KB Flash, 8KB RAM in 64-pin LQFP
