AMP-LATCH Connectors

larryzimm

Discover new opportunities with AMP-LATCH connectors that help reduce the risk of un-mating under high stress conditions with a secure connection to the PC board offered in either long or short latches. The high quality and reliability of TE Connectivity’s AMP-LATCH headers and receptacles have been a trusted ribbon cable to board connector solution for over 40 years.

Thank you for taking time to read this question.

    Scenario:

I am new to most of the industrial related PCB making and I need to know which connectors can I use for Wire to Board connections.

I need a 20 Core wire (preferably a Ribbon) to communicate between a PCB1 and PCBn in series.

I have looked through a few connectors (receptacle and header both) and am thinking of using the ones below:

    -header: 5499160-4. - AMP FROM TE CONNECTIVITY - WIRE-BOARD CONNECTOR, HEADER, 20 POSITION, 2.54MM | element14 Malaysia

    -receptacle: http://my.element14.com/te-connectivity-amp/1658621-4/wire-board-connector-receptacle/dp/2125880?MER=sy-me-pd-mi-acce

    With the following ribbon cable

    -191-2801-120 - AMPHENOL SPECTRA-STRIP - Ribbon Cable, Spectra ZipRegistered Planar, Per M, Grey, 20 Core, 28 AWG, 0.072 mm² | ele…

    Question:

    May I know,

    1. Whether the header I have mentioned can be used with a PCB?

    2. Whether the header I have mentioned can be used with receptacle? If not, it would be helpful if you could provide a suggestion or two.

    3. Whether the ribbon cable can be attache to the receptacle using crimps? If not, how do I connect the ribbon cables to the receptacle?

Thank you again for your time to read this and answer.

    John
