XP Power today announced the 350 Watt GCS350 series addition to its GCS range of high efficiency AC-DC power supplies. Available in multiple mechanical formats, including the industry standard 127 x 76.2 x 36.3 mm open frame package, other formats available are an enclosed covered version, and top or end-mounted fan cover versions. The GCS350 series comprises six single output models covering the common nominal outputs from + 12 to + 56 VDC.
The open frame GCS350 package can be used to deliver up to 200 Watts output power when solely using a convection cooling approach. When a forced air flow is available, or by using one of the fan-mounted versions the full 350 Watts output is available. A secondary 12 VDC / 0.6 A supply output is standard on those models not fitted with a cooling fan. The variety of these mechanical formats and cooling configurations ensure the design engineer has several different options to choose from when looking to fit the supply into their end product.
The GCS350 has a typical energy efficiency of 93% and meets the 80 Plus Silver efficiency standard across the whole range apart from the 12 VDC output model that compiles with the 80 Plus Bronze standard.
Complementing the existing GCS family of 150, 180, 250 and now 350 Watt supplies, all models occupy the same footprint, have the same connectors and provide the same functions across the range. This allows designers to scale up power without needing more space in their end system.
Suiting a wide range of application environments, the GCS range can operate over the extended temperature range of – 40 to + 70 degrees C with full power up to +50 degrees C. The supplies operate from a wide input range of 85-264 VAC, with full power available from 90 VAC and higher. Also, with both Class I and Class II input construction techniques used, designers can opt to use an input earth scheme or not.
No additional EMC filtering components are required since the GCS series meets Class B conducted and Class A radiated criteria as stipulated by the internationally recognized standards of EN55011 and EN55022. Also, the units comply with the 3rd edition medical safety standards EN60601-1, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, CSA22.2 No 60601-1, and the IT equipment safety standard UL/EN 60950-1.
