XP Power today announced the third edition of their 144-page technical guide for power supply specifiers. Spanning all the major aspects of power supply integration, the guide has several new sections covering topics such as the characteristics of battery power sources, high peak load capability, powering LEDs and high voltage safety testing. Where appropriate, approvals and standards information has been updated to the most current legislation. The EMC considerations for defense and avionics applications section has been revised and the energy efficiency chapters have been expanded to include an explanation of efficiency specifications relating to both external and component power supplies.
XP's Power Supply Technical Guide includes a wealth of information and is useful for both equipment designers and non-technical people seeking a more general understanding of power terms and concepts. There are introductory sections that cover the basics of power conversion and the design considerations for AC-DC power supplies and DC-DC converters. Subjects such as regulation, noise, connectivity between power supplies and status and control signals are covered in depth.
Technical articles covering the topics of high efficiency, data sheets, medical power supplies, digital control and custom power are also included. A detailed glossary completes the guide.
